Background of Morgan Silver Dollar
The Morgan dollar was first minted in 1878 and produced until 1904. It made a brief reappearance in 1921, never to be struck again.
The Morgan silver dollar was made at five different mints, which you find coded into each coin's mint mark:
- Carson City Mint (CC)
- Denver Mint (D)
- New Orleans Mint (O)
- San Francisco Mint (S)
- Philadelphia Mint (no mint mark on this Morgan dollar).
